DRUM LESSONS

We cater for both exam and non-exam students

NON-EXAM STUDENTS

Some students just want to focus on developing their playing, be it for playing in their local band or just having the ability to shred on their kit, and play to any song they have on their playlist. At Drum Nation we cater for the students who want to take this route. We tailor make a program to fit the students desired goal. With this program, we assess a student’s playing ability, and then begin to develop the student to match the Drum Nation standard of playing.

Even though this students program will be tailor made, there will be core structures in the program that will focus on technique, speed, creativity, reading, improvisation, grooving, fills, and general knowledge.

EXAMINATION STUDENTS

We welcome all syllabuses that a student wishes to take part in, but primarily teach from the Rock School (London) syllabus. We feel that the Rock School syllabus is an all-encompassing syllabus that develops a student’s playing for the real world. We found that the students who took part in Rock School exams left the examination room, with more knowledge and better playing experience than those who took part in other exams.

We teach from Grade 1 to 8 and all grade exams are internationally recognized.

A Rockschool Grade exams consists of:

  • 3 Performance pieces
  • Technical Exercises
  • Sight Reading
  • Improvisation
  • Ear Tests
  • General Knowledge Questions

Ontop of this syllabus, a student will not miss out on the Drum Nation program. A student taking part in an exam will still learn all the essential skills that will allow them to play at a professional standard
